AUBURNDALE – The Tropics SC hope to continue their winning streak when the 14-0 team takes on Boca Raton FC in the state finals for the UPSL Pro Premier teams.
The Tropics will host the championship game Saturday, July 6, at 7 p.m. at Auburndale’s Lake Myrtle Sports Park.
Besides being undefeated, the Tropics have outscored their opponents collectively 43-5.
The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to the national quarterfinal round July 19-21, with those winners advancing to the national Final Four July 27 and 28 in Dallas-Fort Worth.
When the Tropics take the field Saturday, they will face a foe familiar to many football fans, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, who played 11 seasons in the NFL. The 41-year-old forward has had success on the pitch, too – he scored the only two goals in Boca Raton’s win over Palm Beach on May 28, 2-1.
