Another chapter was added in the long and storied relationship between the City of Lakeland, Polk County and the Detroit Tigers through two successful annual events.
The 73rd annual Tigers BBQ, presented by Rodda Construction, was held Feb. 20 at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium. A sellout crowd not only showed their support for the Detroit Tigers but also enjoyed a menu of tradition Southern barbecue as well as a 2019 souvenir mug.
The next day the Tigers were on the golf course as part of the annual Major League Scramble. Groups were paired with staff and players from the Tigers, who then took to the Grasslands Golf and Country Club. The outing allows boosters, business leaders and others not only time with Tigers staff, management and players but also unique networking opportunities.
