Promotional initiative launched to support area businesses

In an effort to stimulate the local economy while the pandemic continues, Polk County’s destination marketing organization, Visit Central Florida, launched a promotional initiative this week utilizing restaurants, shops and entertainment venues.

The Polk Savings Pass, delivered to your mobile device for free either by e-mail, text or download, currently has more than 30 different offerings with plans for continued expansion.

“It isn’t a big secret that the last year has been one of the most challenging on record for the business community,” said Mark Jackson, the director of Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing. “This pass is just one way we’re trying to help mitigate the damage done from the Coronavirus pandemic.”

To obtain the pass, simply go to the VisitCentralFlorida.org website and click on the “Polk County Savings” link on the bottom of the page or navigate directly to explore.visitcentralflorida.org/polk. Or, if you’d rather use a QR code, pick up a rack card at a number of retailers in the area. Once signed up, you’ll receive a link either via email or text. From there, you can add the passport to your devices home screen for easy access.

“Quite simply, the pass allows you to experience more for less,” said Jackson. “And whether you live here or are visiting, we’re sure you’ll be back more often, which in turn will help local businesses.”

From pizza to candy, barbecue to Kombucha, if you have a craving, the Polk Savings Pass has you covered. There are also discounts to local attractions like Bok Tower Gardens and Explorations V Children’s Museum and even savings on hotel rooms for when out-of-towners come for a visit.
