More than 75 softball teams on fields this weekend

They may no longer be the Boys of Summer, but that hasn’t changed their determination out on the diamond.
More than 75 softball teams from throughout Florida come to Lakeland and Winter Haven this weekend for a tournament for players as young as 60. Organized by Florida Half Century, the teams will have many players on them in their 70s or older.
“We’ve had a great relationship with the Florida Half Century organization for years,” said Mark Jackson, the director of Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing. “They love coming to Polk County for not only the great weather but the food and friendliness as well. And we love having them here.”
