Meetings and Conventions showing toward a post-COVID recovery

The coronavirus may have put the long-proven tradition of in-person meetings on hold, but that doesn’t mean the lucrative business meetings and conventions market is on hold. In fact, astute purveyors have used this down time to solidify relationships that pay dividends later.

PCTSM’s Al Snow has announced the following three conference/meeting/event committals to Polk County.

  • June 2021 Healthy Schools Summit – Florida Department of Education. It’ll feature 450 attendees for an estimated $352,900 economic impact
  • July 2021 BEST Education Standards Summit – Florida Department of Education. It will feature 450 attendees for an estimated $528,000 economic impact

Both Department of Education events were confirmed and contracted with the RP Funding Center and George Jenkins High School.

  • 2021 Progressive International Motorcycle Show. This event is projected to feature more than 140 vendors and more than 5,000 consumers for a projected $493,000 economic impact. Polk County is one of only nine markets in the United States to host an event that is a part of the national tour in 2021. The event will be held at the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus Event on Oct. 15-17.
