Lane wins Bernie Little Sports Executive Award
Some athletes give back to their sport. Many give back to their community.
Bobby Lane does both – at the same time. For his efforts, Lane recently received the Bernie Little Sports Executive Award.

Voted on by a committee comprised of sports legends and local community leaders, the award is presented to an individual who has contributed significantly to the betterment of Polk County through sports.
Lane, who grew up in Lakeland and currently competes in the Major League Fishing Pro Bass Tour, frequently shares his love of the outdoors with others. For the past 10 years, along with Camp Mack, a Guy Harvey Lodge, Lane has planned and hosted The Bobby Lane Cup, a nonprofit tournament to raise funds that provide educational scholarships for high school seniors and youth with an interest in bass fishing. In 2019, the event raised $26,000, and usually draws nearly 200 teams to participate in the event. He is also a frequent participant in similar events across the country.
The next clinic will be Saturday, Dec. 12, when the Guy Harvey Outpost Academy presents Bobby Lane’s Fishing & Conservation Clinic at Camp Mack. Lane and his team of instructors will teach junior anglers knot tying, basic tackle, cast netting, boating safety, conservation and more. After the stations, anglers are free to fish for the duration of the event. Registration will include a rod and reel kit, welcome bag, certificate of completion from the IGFA and lunch at Camp Mack.
The cost for the event is $10 per angler. All proceeds will be donated to Captains for Clean Waters to help protect the water quality on Lake Kissimmee. Check-in is 8:30 a.m., classes are scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with time to fish until noon, when lunch is served. It is advised for anglers to bring sunscreen and hats, since the event is outdoors.
