Homeschool World Series another hit
It was another successful Homeschool World Series, which took place at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale. This year, the event drew 26 teams – six more than last year. In total, nearly 2,000 people came to town to cheer on their team for a $1.5 million economic impact.
The Homeschool World Series Association – the event organizer – is a 5019(c)3 based in Austin, Texas, dedicated to promoting and coordinating varsity level high school baseball competition among homeschool students in a distinctly Christian environment. The Homeschool World Series is the nation’s largest event for homeschool baseball teams. Participants came from 10 different states, including Wisconsin, Virginia, Texas, Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Georgia and Arkansas.
Why the lack of Florida teams, you ask? Florida, as well as many other states around the country, allows homeschool students to participate in school-sanctioned sports at their area high schools.
