But this time, without a boat.

The Elite Cable Park, part of the Auburndale Watersports Complex, opened Saturday, July 13, bringing all the action of wakeboarding, complete with ramps and obstacles with it. But instead of being towed behind a boat, boarders are towed via a cable, similar to a ski lift.

Part of the Aktion Watersports portfolio of parks, which also includes the Orlando Watersports Complex, the Auburndale complex, 330 Denton Ave., also features the company’s Get Up Guarantee program. Designed to create the best experience for the riders, the program includes a one-on-one learning session with a staff member. First timers can then master the art of standing on the board in a small practice area before venturing out into the cable park.

Also opening on July 13 was Tantrum’s Lakeside Grill. Named after a classic trick in wakeboarding, the eatery features hand-friendly favorites. Non-wakeboarding customers can enjoy watching the thrill seekers from the shade of the deck with a cold drink and great food.

The park is the first phase that will ultimately include the headquarters for USA Water Ski and Wake Sports Foundation and the United States Olympic Committee’s official governing body of the sport, USA Water Ski and Wake Sports.
