Bats keep the business of sports hot in Polk County

Whether it’s the JUCO Twin Classic, the NSA Iron Women, the Corbeil Classic or the Save Second Base Tournament, baseball and softball are keeping Polk County Sports Marketing jumping.

“More than 30 teams came in for the Corbeil Classic alone,” said Josh Hicks, the sports sales and event representative who handles most of the so-called bat-and-ball sports. “The girls softball teams bring in 20 teams at a time, at least, and the Florida Half Century tournament held last week was another 50 teams. These sports remain our backbone.”

Upcoming events include the softball event Halloween Havoc on Oct. 13-14, the Fourth Annual Monster Mash on Oct. 20-21 and the Bing Tyus JUCO Classic Oct. 26-28.
