Some of the best women lacrosse players in the world will converge on Lake Myrtle in their quest to be the best in the world.
The 2019 PALA Women’s Lacrosse World Qualifiers will be held at Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale from Nov. 14-17. The Pan-American Lacrosse Association is the governing body for the sport throughout North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. Included are the United States, Canada, the Iroquois Confederacy, Argentina, Bermuda, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Peru.
“The addition of PALA to our slate of sporting events simply reinforces Polk County’s position as an international sporting destination,” said Mark Jackson, the director of Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing. “From baseball and soccer to quidditch and now lacrosse, the world comes to Polk County to play.”
Playing at Lake Myrtle will be teams from Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Jamaica. The Haudenosaunee team will represent the Iroquois Confederacy.
