A join initiative between Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing and the Lakeland Ledger, the event showcases not only the best amateur, collegiate and professional athletes and coaches of the year, but also inducts legends into the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame.

RP Funding Center (originally Lakeland Civic Center and later the Lakeland Center) is an 8,178-seat multi-purpose arena and theater located in Lakeland, Florida. It opened in November 1974 as the Lakeland Civic Center. It was renamed in 2017.
