Polk County is serious about soccer! The new Lake Myrtle Sports Complex (Google

slated to open in the summer of 2009. Lake Myrtle will feature 11 international
dimension soccer fields and will be the home to the Florida Youth Soccer
Association. In addition to the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex, Polk County has
several six field facilities, including the Lake Parker Soccer Complex and Loyce
Harpe Park in Lakeland, and Simmers-Young Park in Winter Haven. Both
professional and amateur teams have found Polk County "soccer friendly"
including the Estonian National Team and former Tampa Bay Rowdies Professional
Soccer Team.
